Merku Thodarchi Malai(2018)

Merku Thodarchi Malai is a Tamil film about Rangasamy, a laborer working the spice plantations that straddle the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. After years of backbreaking work, he finally achieves his dream of owning land with help from local politician Chaako. But his newfound independence comes at a cost. Rangasamy soon discovers that corrupt and wealthy politicians will stop at nothing to exploit his vulnerability. What begins as a simple story of rural ambition becomes a battle for survival against systemic greed and power. The film explores the harsh realities facing small farmers in India, where land ownership promises freedom but often delivers conflict instead.
