Bohemia Docta or the Labyrinth of the World and the Lust-House of the Heart is a documentary portrait of Czech culture at the turn of the millennium. Director Karel Vachek assembles a fragmented, surreal vision of the late 1990s through interviews with key figures of Czech intellectual and artistic life. Egon Bondy prophesies capitalist ruin, Jim Čert confesses his collaboration with the secret police, Jaroslav Foglar searches for a bottle-opener, and Ivan Diviš reflects on his own mortality. The film moves between the mundane and the metaphysical, capturing a nation in transition through candid, often absurdist moments. Vachek's approach mirrors the chaos and uncertainty of post-communist Prague, where high culture collides with everyday struggle.
