Captain from Castile is a 1950 adventure film set during the Spanish conquest of Mexico. Young nobleman Pedro de Vargas flees Spain after offending a sadistic Inquisition officer, joining Hernán Cortés's expedition to the New World alongside his friend Juan García and a devoted servant girl named Catana. When Cortés abandons exploration for conquest, the small Spanish force faces overwhelming odds in a vast, hostile land. Pedro navigates treacherous battles, romantic entanglements, and the constant threat of his powerful enemy from home. The film blends swashbuckling action with historical drama as Pedro struggles to survive both external dangers and the vendetta that follows him across the Atlantic.
