Breaking Through the Darkness(1956)

Breaking Through the Darkness is a war film set in May 1942, when Japanese forces mobilized thousands of troops across central Hebei. A Chinese platoon tasked with covering a strategic transfer faces catastrophe when their leader is gravely wounded. Yan Zhigang, rescued by his aunt, takes command alongside fellow soldier Zhang Qingsha. Together they rally the remaining troops to mount a desperate resistance, targeting enemy guard towers and fighting to dismantle the occupying force's brutal grip on the region. The film captures the courage and sacrifice of soldiers caught in an impossible situation during Japan's invasion of China.
