The Wallop(1921)

The Wallop is a silent western following adventurer John Wesley Pringle as he returns home after striking it rich, only to discover his former sweetheart Stella engaged to Christopher Foy, a sheriff candidate. When incumbent sheriff Matt Lisner attempts to assassinate Foy, Pringle intervenes. But after Foy becomes the prime suspect in a murder, Pringle devises an audacious plan: he captures Foy himself, holds off the pursuing posse at gunpoint, then releases him—revealing his true intentions.
