The Ruby(2020)

The Ruby is a drama following Intan, a homeless teenager who finds refuge in a dilapidated Chinatown hostel in Kuala Lumpur. There she encounters a reclusive old man, and an unexpected bond forms between them as she navigates life among the hostel's collection of hustlers and dreamers. As Intan settles into her new surroundings, she uncovers the building's hidden history while grappling with her own past. The film explores themes of displacement, connection, and the courage required to confront what we're running from, set against the gritty backdrop of the city's underbelly.
