Canaviais(2006)

Canaviais is a Portuguese drama following Simão, an aging man haunted by an impossible love from his youth. Born into servitude, the son of household staff in a wealthy home, social barriers kept him from the daughter of his parents' employers—a passion that shaped his entire life. Decades later, Simão remains trapped between memory and present reality, unable to escape what might have been. The film weaves together themes of class division, unfulfilled desire, and the weight of time with unflinching examination of abortion and social inequality.
