Two Sisters from Boston(1946)
"Ladies an' Gents! The most inflammable damsels... the most terrific tenor... the most colossol schnozzle ...ever!"
Two Sisters from Boston is a comedy about deception and sisterly bonds set in 1940s New York. Abigail Chandler has lied to her prim Boston family, claiming she's a celebrated opera singer when she actually performs at a burlesque house under the stage name High-C Susie. When her sister Martha arrives for a surprise visit, Abigail scrambles to conceal her true profession and keep up the charade. The film follows her increasingly frantic attempts to maintain the fiction while navigating the clash between her glamorous stage life and her family's expectations. Packed with musical numbers and comedic mishaps, the movie explores how far someone will go to impress their relatives and what happens when the truth threatens to unravel.
