Azad(2000)

Azad is a 2000 Telugu action film directed by Tirupathi Swamy and starring Akkineni Nagarjuna as a man fighting for freedom against oppressive forces. The ensemble cast includes Raghuvaran, Shilpa Shetty, and Soundarya in pivotal roles. Mani Sharma's music underscores the film's high-octane narrative, which draws inspiration from the 1989 Hindi classic Main Azaad Hoon. Released on 29 September 2000, Azad was dubbed into Hindi as Mission Azaad and later remade in Tamil as Velayudham. The film combines intense action sequences with themes of independence and rebellion, capturing the spirit of its source material while establishing itself as a standalone Telugu cinema entry. Producer C. Ashwini Dutt brought the ambitious project to screen.
