Doomed to Oblivion is a historical drama set during China's Qing dynasty, following painter Cheng Ban Kiu's rise to fame and fortune. Driven to prove himself as an artist, Ban Kiu becomes celebrated for his masterful bamboo paintings—a skill that catches the emperor's attention. The ruler seeks the finest bamboo work to accompany him in the afterlife, creating a dangerous opportunity for Ban Kiu. Yet his personal philosophy, "Ignorance is Bliss," becomes both his trademark and his undoing. As Ban Kiu navigates court intrigue and ambition, his famous maxim ironically leads him toward ruin. The series explores the price of artistic success and how wisdom and naïveté can collide in a world where a single painting might determine one's fate.
