The Paul Hogan Show(1973)

The Paul Hogan Show is an Australian comedy series that aired from 1973 to 1984 and launched Paul Hogan to stardom before his Crocodile Dundee fame. Each episode opened with Hogan performing stand-up as "Hoges," dressed in his signature bridge rigger's outfit, then shifted into a series of sketch comedy routines. Hogan played multiple recurring characters: Leo Wanker, a bumbling daredevil; George Fungus, a parody of Australian journalist George Negus; Super Dag, an ocker superhero with a terry-towelling hat; Perce the Wino, a silent-comedy drunk; and variations of Donger, a beer-gutted everyman. John Cornell appeared as Strop, Hogan's dim-witted flatmate. The show's irreverent humour and physical comedy made it a hit on Australian television and later aired in the New York tri-state area during the early 1980s.
