Oxford Road Show(1981)

Oxford Road Show was a BBC2 pop music magazine series that aired from Manchester's New Broadcasting House between 1981 and 1985. The show mixed live performances, music news, and competitions aimed squarely at young adults, presented by and for that demographic. It featured major acts of the era including The Cure, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Simple Minds, Marillion, and The Smiths. Hosted by presenters including Peter Powell, Janice Long, and Timmy Mallett, the series evolved through iterations known as ORS 84 and ORS 85. The show became culturally significant enough to be parodied as "Nozin' Aroun'" in the first episode of cult comedy The Young Ones, cementing its place in British pop culture history.
