Them(2021)
Them is a limited anthology series that examines terror across American history. Each season presents a standalone story rooted in a different era and region, exploring how fear and violence shape communities. The first season follows a Black family who move into an all-white neighborhood in 1950s Los Angeles, only to encounter supernatural horrors that mirror the very real racial tensions of the time. Subsequent installments shift settings and timelines, blending psychological dread with social commentary. The series uses genre conventions—haunted houses, unexplained phenomena, creeping unease—to interrogate systemic racism, xenophobia, and the darker impulses lurking beneath American society. Them balances visceral scares with substantive storytelling, making horror a vehicle for examining historical injustice and collective trauma.
