Kids(2018)

Kids is a Russian drama series about a middle-aged cabaret owner seeking redemption. At 40, Igor is isolated and estranged from his teenage son Petya, who hasn't spoken to him in a year. Desperate to understand the rift, Igor recruits Lera, an 18-year-old waitress at his club, to spy on the boy. Lera reluctantly agrees, partly motivated by her own crush on the cabaret's chef. The scheme spirals when Lera's best friend Danya and a young dancer named Masha become entangled in the deception. What begins as Igor's clumsy attempt to reconnect with his son becomes an unexpected education in fatherhood and human connection. As the teenagers navigate their own lives and secrets, Igor discovers that these young people—outsiders to his world—hold the key to his transformation. The series explores how broken adults and restless youth can heal each other through unlikely bonds and hard-won trust.
