Sunday Night Theatre(1950)

Sunday Night Theatre was a landmark BBC Television series that ran from 1950 to 1959, showcasing live televised stage plays. During its first five years, productions were restaged live the following Thursday due to technical constraints and the theatrical conventions of early television drama. The series became a proving ground for acclaimed collaborations between director Rudolph Cartier and writer Nigel Kneale, including their adaptation of Nineteen Eighty-Four and Arrow to the Heart. After the original run ended, the Sunday night drama slot was revived as The Sunday-Night Play, which continued for four seasons between 1960 and 1963. ITV later launched its own unrelated series under the same name, which aired from 1971 to 1974.
