A Sucessora(1978)

A Sucessora is a Brazilian period drama set in 1920s Rio de Janeiro. Marina, a naive country girl, marries Roberto Stein, a wealthy and enigmatic businessman. As she settles into her new life, Marina discovers that Roberto's deceased first wife, Alice, casts a long shadow over the household. Though Roberto shows Marina affection, she feels increasingly threatened by Alice's lingering presence—embodied in the devoted maid Juliana's fierce loyalty and an imposing portrait that dominates the home.
