Ripe Town(2023)

Ripe Town is a Chinese historical mystery series set during the Ming Dynasty's Wan Li Period. When a series of brutal murders strikes Jiangnan County, the victims—seemingly unconnected—are left in grotesque poses with cryptic messages at each crime scene. Xiaohu Kuaiqu Sanren, apprentice to the first victim, teams up with allies to uncover the killer's identity and motive. As their investigation deepens, they encounter a cross-section of local society: farmers, merchants, workers, and figures from the criminal underworld. The case grows more complex when a decade-old mystery resurfaces, suggesting the murders may be linked to a hidden past. Ripe Town weaves together period intrigue, procedural investigation, and social commentary as the protagonists navigate deception and danger to expose the truth.
