Educating Archie(1958)

Educating Archie is a British comedy series that aired on BBC Light Programme from June 1950 to February 1960, primarily on Sunday lunchtimes. The show starred ventriloquist Peter Brough and his wooden dummy Archie Andrews in a format that seemed unlikely for radio—a ventriloquist act with no visual element. Yet Educating Archie became a phenomenon, drawing an average of 15 million listeners and attracting a fan club of 250,000 members. The series proved so popular that it won the Daily Mail's Variety Award in 1950, just four months after its debut. Despite its cultural impact and decade-long run, the series is now considered lost.
