Derailment is a Chinese science fiction series that explores the concept of parallel universes through the eyes of Jiang Xiaoyuan, a woman whose identity shifts dramatically across different realities. In her original world, she is a wealthy heiress; in another, she's a struggling working woman with nothing. As Jiang Xiaoyuan navigates these fractured versions of existence, she encounters the enigmatic Qi Lian, and together they uncover the mystery behind her fragmented self. Stripped of her wealth, family connections, appearance, and education, she embarks on a quest to discover her true identity. The series examines what remains of a person when everything external is taken away, blending philosophical questions about selfhood with the intrigue of interdimensional travel.
