The Hakkenden: Legend of the Dog Warriors(1990)

The Hakkenden: Legend of the Dog Warriors is an anime series set during Japan's feudal wars. When the Awa clan faces extinction at the hands of a rival warlord backed by demonic forces, their lord makes a fateful promise: his family dog slays the enemy commander and demands the lord's daughter's hand in marriage. Their supernatural union produces eight pups who are later reincarnated as the Dog Warriors—eight samurai embodying the principles of Bushido. Separated at birth, the warriors gradually discover one another and unite to wage bloody battles against demons and corrupt samurai. Together, they fight to save their clan from ruin and restore honor to their bloodline through fierce combat and unwavering loyalty to their code.
