Taxi!(1963)

Taxi! is a British comedy-drama series from 1963–1964 created by Ted Willis, the writer behind Dixon of Dock Green. Willis drew inspiration from taxi drivers' natural gift for storytelling, crafting twelve individual plays for the first series. Sid James stars as Sid Stone, a cab firm owner and driver navigating the daily rhythms of London's taxi trade. Bill Owen plays co-owner Fred Cudell, with Ray Brooks as driver Terry Mills. The show balances dramatic moments with humour rather than relying on pure comedy. Jack Rosenthal contributed scripts for several episodes, bringing sharp writing to the ensemble cast and their interconnected stories behind the wheel.
