My World and Welcome to It(1969)

My World and Welcome to It is an American sitcom based on the humor and cartoons of James Thurber. William Windom plays John Monroe, a wry, curmudgeonly writer and cartoonist working for a magazine modeled on The New Yorker. Monroe's frequent daydreams and fantasies—drawn from Thurber's own work—contrast sharply with the sensible perspective of his wife Ellen and their intelligent daughter Lydia. His observations on everyday life are fanciful and absurd, often bewildering his grounded family. Created by Mel Shavelson and executive produced by Sheldon Leonard, the series aired one season on NBC from 1969 to 1970. Producer Danny Arnold co-wrote and directed many episodes, bringing Thurber's distinctive blend of whimsy and social commentary to television.
