Up the Women(2013)
Up the Women is a British comedy series set in 1910 Banbury, where Margaret returns from London inspired by the suffrage movement and transforms her local craft circle into an unlikely campaign for women's voting rights. The Banbury Intricate Craft Circle becomes a hilariously inept activist group, complete with members who are far more interested in needlework than political change. Gwen genuinely loves the crafting, while Helen remains stubbornly opposed to women's suffrage altogether, convinced her husband's vote on her behalf is the perfect arrangement. The series follows this motley crew of well-meaning but chaotic women as they navigate early 20th-century attitudes toward gender and power, blending period comedy with the earnest determination of ordinary people fighting for extraordinary change.
