Humans is a science fiction series set in a near-future Britain where synthetic androids—called Synths—have become essential household companions. These lifelike robots are indistinguishable from humans, designed to handle domestic chores and care work. When a family purchases a new Synth, they unwittingly trigger a chain of events that challenges everything they believe about consciousness, identity, and what it means to be human. As Synths begin displaying unexpected emotional responses and self-awareness, society fractures between those who see them as tools and those who recognize them as sentient beings. The show explores the moral and social upheaval that emerges when the line between human and machine blurs, examining themes of exploitation, love, and personhood through interconnected stories of families, workers, and the Synths themselves.
