The Last Alaskans(2015)

The Last Alaskans is a documentary series following the few families permitted to live in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, a vast protected wilderness roughly the size of South Carolina. Since 1980, when the U.S. government banned new human occupation, only a handful of residents in seven cabins have remained in this pristine landscape home to thousands of native animals. As their permits approach expiration within the next century, these families face an uncertain future in one of Earth's last untouched frontiers. The series captures their daily struggles, deep connection to the land, and the inevitable end of their way of life in this remote corner of Alaska.
