The Executioner(2013)

The Executioner is a Danish drama series following UN human rights lawyer Morten Topsøe as he travels to Cambodia to prosecute war criminals from the Khmer Rouge regime. His investigation takes a personal turn when he falls in love with a woman who, as a teenager, served as an executioner during the brutal regime's reign of terror. Caught between his duty to pursue justice and his desire to protect the woman he loves, Topsøe faces an impossible moral dilemma. The series explores the lingering trauma of Cambodia's darkest chapter and the question of whether redemption is possible for those forced to commit atrocities under totalitarian rule.
