An Oriental Odyssey is a Chinese historical mystery series set during the Tang Dynasty. Ye Yuanan, daughter of an Assistant Minister, is an amateur detective with a knack for solving crimes—much to the frustration of police officer Zhao Lanzhi, who views her meddling as interference. She's aided by Mu Le, a young servant she rescued and took into her household. As Yuanan pursues increasingly complex cases, she uncovers a shocking secret about Mu Le's true identity that threatens to upend everything she thought she knew. Blending period intrigue with romance and suspense, the series follows Yuanan as she navigates dangerous mysteries while grappling with unexpected revelations about those closest to her.
