Caliphate(2020)

Caliphate is a Swedish thriller that follows national security agent Fatima as she races to prevent a planned terrorist attack on Sweden. Parallel to her investigation, Sulle, a Stockholm teenager, becomes drawn to her charismatic student assistant who introduces her to religious fundamentalism. The series traces the interconnected lives of five young women as they navigate the seductive and destructive pull of extremist ideology. Fatima's professional mission collides with her personal stakes as she confronts the radicalization happening in her own community. Caliphate examines how vulnerable individuals—particularly young women—can be manipulated by those who promise belonging and purpose, while exploring the security apparatus tasked with stopping real threats before they materialize.
