Cybuster(1999)

Cybuster is a sci-fi anime series set in 2040, where Tokyo lies in ruins from pollution and unexplained earthquakes. Ken Ando trains to join DC, a military organization tasked with investigating environmental collapse and protecting what remains of civilization. Despite his sister Sayuri's encouragement, Ken fails his evaluation and is rejected from the elite unit. When a mysterious monster descends from the sky and decimates DC's robots with invisible forces, Ken seizes the chance to prove himself in combat. His desperate battle reveals an unexpected connection: Ken and Earth's survival are mysteriously bound to a powerful mech from another world. As Ken uncovers the truth behind the otherworldly machine, he discovers his role in humanity's fight for survival.
