Reality Check(2013)

Reality Check is a Hong Kong series following Xia Chang, a senior director at a TV station, as he prepares a new live show. The concept: bringing Hong Kong youth Zhang Junjie back to mainland China to experience rural life firsthand. Understaffed and under pressure, the production team scrambles to pull together the project. Xia Chang recruits newcomer Xu Meifeng as an assistant and enlists his friend Liang Zhongxin as the photographer. As the crew navigates the challenges of documenting this cultural exchange, tensions rise and unexpected complications emerge. The series balances comedy and drama as the mismatched team works to capture authentic moments while managing egos, logistics, and the gap between city and countryside. Reality Check explores themes of authenticity in media and the clash between urban and rural perspectives.
