Rounin is a 2007 Filipino fantasy and martial arts series that aired on ABS-CBN. A landmark production for Philippine television, it was among the most expensive locally-produced series of its time and the first Filipino show shot in high-definition video. The series followed a martial arts narrative set in a fantastical world, blending action with supernatural elements. Despite its technical ambitions and substantial budget, Rounin struggled to find an audience and was cancelled after one season due to low ratings. The production showcased the capabilities of local crews working with cutting-edge Panasonic HDP2 technology, with Reality Films handling line production and Larger Than Life Productions managing post-production and visual effects.
