Tiding over till Tomorrow(1977)

Tiding over till Tomorrow is a multimedia work that originated in 1977 as a dual slide projection accompanied by live piano performance. The artist Tony Conrad created the photographs and collaborated with Anne Turyn, who contributed enigmatic text slides. When reinstalled at the Buffalo AKG in 2012, the slides were converted to digital projection and Conrad's live performance was replaced by a recorded piano accompaniment. The music draws from Conrad's larger durational project, Music and the Mind of the World, recorded between 1976 and 1982. During this period, the violinist—who had no formal piano training—extensively documented his experimental explorations at the keyboard, creating an unconventional fusion of visual art and sound that challenges conventional boundaries between disciplines.
