On the Night of the New Moon(1977)

On the Night of the New Moon is a historical drama set in Abkhazia during 1921, as the Bolshevik revolution reshapes the Caucasus. Alkhas, a Soviet underground operative, returns to his village to consolidate communist control, but finds himself caught between political duty and personal desire when he falls for Aditsa, the local prince's daughter. Her father, who rejects Soviet rule and has joined an armed rebellion, intends to marry her off to Prince Safarbey instead. Tensions escalate when Safarbey's anti-Bolshevik gang murders a Red Army liaison, forcing Alkhas to navigate impossible choices between love and ideology in a region torn by civil conflict.
