Cabaret is a 1993 filmed stage production of the legendary musical, captured live at London's Donmar Warehouse under director Sam Mendes' debut. Set in Berlin's Kit Kat Club during 1931, the film follows Sally Bowles, an ambitious American singer, and the morally ambiguous Emcee as they preside over a world of glamour and excess. Jane Horrocks embodies Sally's desperate charm while Alan Cumming's Emcee commands the stage with dark magnetism. As the performers celebrate hedonism inside the club, the Nazi party's rise to power looms ominously outside.
