Jedes Jahr im Juni is a German drama about forbidden love across the Iron Curtain. Each June, Bavarian housewife Elke Richter travels to Halle in East Germany to visit family, where she begins a secret affair with Gregor Pohl, a married carpenter. When her husband's promotion in the communist regime ends the annual trips, the couple arranges clandestine meetings on other holidays. The fall of the Berlin Wall and Gregor's decision to emigrate to Canada force them to confront the impossible choice between their passion and the life they've built on opposite sides of a divided nation. The film explores desire, duty, and the personal costs of political upheaval.
