Salting the Battlefield is the final film in David Hare's trilogy following MI5 renegade Johnny Worricker. On the run across Europe with Margot Tyrell, the fugitive former intelligence officer faces closing danger. With nowhere left to hide, Worricker realizes his only path forward is to return to Britain and confront Prime Minister Alec Beasley directly. The film explores power, secrets, and the corruption embedded in the British establishment through a tense cat-and-mouse game between a hunted man and the state machinery pursuing him. Hare's conclusion to the trilogy examines what happens when an insider turns against the system that made him, and whether truth can survive against institutional forces determined to bury it.
