Op og ned langs kysten is a Danish comedy set at glamorous seaside hotels along the Øresund coast in the 1950s. Bandleader Hans Herbert pursues the elegant Mrs. Winter, a summer guest, while an exchange broker becomes so smitten that he attempts suicide during a mannequin show. He's rescued by Mrs. Holgersen, who believes his dramatic act was meant for her—and promptly blossoms with newfound confidence. When the manufacturer arrives at the hotel, he barely recognizes his transformed wife. Director Stig Lommer crafted this light-hearted summer romp around the "deeds of the night" at the now-defunct Beaulieu and Marienlyst hotels, capturing the glamour and romantic chaos of Denmark's golden age of seaside hospitality.
