Two Generations(1945)

Two Generations is an early Bengali film starring Chhabi Biswas before he became known for his iconic patriarch roles. Nutubihari is an idealist lawyer who abandoned his love for Kalyani to marry Bimala and fight for the poor against feudal lords. When Kalyani becomes a widow, Bimala welcomes her with unexpected warmth. Years later, Nutu's son Arun and Kalyani's daughter Mamata fall in love and wish to marry. But success corrupts Nutu, transforming him into the very kind of man he once despised. In an ironic turn, Arun follows his father's path, embodying the clash between generations as ideals give way to ambition and compromise.
