Unmensch(2016)

Unmensch is an Austrian film about Jasper, a young actor rehearsing with his theater group who becomes obsessed with staging a provocative stunt. Convinced that bringing a real gun onstage will energize their production, Jasper pitches the idea to his director, who dismisses it as reckless rather than bold. Undeterred, Jasper and fellow actress Dany take their experiment into the real world, targeting an unsuspecting stranger with the goal of breaking them emotionally. The film darkly explores how far ambition and the pursuit of shock value can push someone, blurring the line between art, cruelty, and performance. It's a sharp critique of performative provocation and the cost of seeking attention at others' expense.
