Mademoiselle Julie is a film adaptation of August Strindberg's 1888 naturalistic play, set on Midsummer's Eve at a Count's estate. The young aristocrat Julie becomes drawn to Jean, the family's worldly and educated valet, while his fiancée Christine, a servant, works in the kitchen nearby.
