Bawod(2017)

Bawod is a Filipino film following twelve-year-old Thirdy, who lives in a rural mountain village in Iloilo with her ailing grandfather Cesario, a bamboo farmer struggling to support them both. As her school's annual Talent Show approaches, Thirdy worries she cannot afford the costume rental and required fees to participate. Her anxiety deepens when she begins experiencing visions of a mysterious man she believes is her long-dead father—a claim her village dismisses as fantasy. On the day of the performance, long-buried family secrets and mounting village tensions erupt, forcing Thirdy to confront the truth behind her apparitions and her family's past. The film explores poverty, grief, and the collision between a child's inner world and harsh rural reality.
