Plangent Rain(2011)

Plangent Rain is a short film that reimagines Shakespeare's Hamlet in the walled city of Valletta, Malta. A sailor's son finds himself trapped, rowing a decaying boat endlessly across a confined harbour. Haunted by guilt and paralyzed by his mother's dominance and his uncle's manipulations, the boy descends into darkness. The film explores themes of duty, family dysfunction, and inevitable tragedy through a lens of gothic decay. Shot against Malta's historic architecture, Plangent Rain captures the psychological torment of a young man caught between impossible choices and the weight of expectation. His spiral toward ruin mirrors the original play's exploration of madness and moral corruption.
