Knock on Wood is a comedy film about ventriloquist Jerry Morgan, whose romantic relationships repeatedly collapse when his two dolls inexplicably turn mean and jealous at the prospect of marriage. Morgan's troubles deepen when his dollmaker, Papynek, involves him in an espionage scheme. Papynek, a spy ring member who has stolen classified plans for the secret Lafayette airplane, convinces Morgan to smuggle the documents by hiding them inside the heads of his dolls. With Morgan departing for Zurich that same night, he becomes an unwitting courier caught between his ventriloquism act, his complicated love life, and international intrigue. The film blends slapstick humor with spy thriller elements as Morgan navigates the absurd consequences of his dolls' jealousy and his unexpected role in a dangerous heist.
