Istırap(1974)

Istırap is a Turkish drama following Ali, a young man raised by his abusive stepfather Adnan, the man responsible for his father's death. Trapped in poverty and forced to work in stables, Ali endures his miserable life only for his ailing mother's sake. When she dies and he's falsely accused of theft, he attempts suicide by jumping into a lake. Rescued by Gül, a performer in a traveling entertainment caravan, Ali finds himself welcomed into a new family and experiences genuine kindness for the first time. His fragile peace shatters when the caravan returns to his hometown and he's forced to confront Adnan once more. As a police officer, Ali must now face the man determined to destroy what little happiness he's finally found, reckoning with his traumatic past.
