Sing for Sweetie(1938)

Sing for Sweetie is a romantic musical comedy set in the golden age of swing. Sally Newton loves Lee Sullivan, a talented tenor with Johnny Johnson's Orchestra, but her disapproving father wants her to marry a dull clerk instead. Sally convinces her father to take her to the nightclub where Lee performs, unaware that he's already planned their elopement—signaled by his song "Let's Take It on the Chin." When the jealous clerk hires a gangster to silence Lee, the lovers must overcome this dangerous obstacle to be together.
