Pehchan(1970)

Pehchan is a Hindi drama following Ganga, a naive villager who arrives in the city seeking a bride. He rescues Champa, a prostitute trapped in a brothel, and brings her home, introducing her as his sister to protect her reputation. Living with them is a crippled middle-aged man. When Ganga falls for the beautiful Barkha, her parents consent to their marriage. But Barkha's brother Rakesh recognizes Champa, exposing her past and destroying the engagement. The film explores themes of redemption, social prejudice, and the cost of hidden identities in 1970s Indian cinema.
