Liar Wanted is a Greek political satire that skewers the country's patronage-driven political system. A well-meaning but out-of-touch Health Minister hires an ambitious young provincial with a gift for deception to manage the endless demands of his volatile political allies. The newcomer quickly becomes the real power behind the throne, sparking jealousy among the Minister's inner circle and his glamorous wife. As fortunes shift, the film reveals that beneath the provincial's relentless lying lies a fundamentally decent person who simply views dishonesty as essential to survival. Based on a stage play, this remake explores how corruption and clientelism corrupt even those who enter politics with good intentions.
