A Separate Peace follows Gene and Finny, two inseparable boys at Devon School in 1943, as the shadow of World War II looms over their adolescence. Knowing they'll likely be drafted at eighteen, the friends push themselves to live intensely, their bond tested by jealousy, ambition, and the weight of impending adulthood. Narrated by an older Gene returning to campus years later, the film explores how a single moment—a leap from a fateful tree—fractures their friendship and forces both boys to confront betrayal, guilt, and the loss of innocence. Set against the backdrop of wartime anxiety, A Separate Peace is a haunting meditation on how the choices we make in youth can reverberate through our entire lives.
