Benjamim Zambraia e o Autopanóptico(2020)
Benjamim Zambraia is a Brazilian experimental film following a young drunk who drifts through the city, oscillating between his parents' indulgence and violence. Helena Ignez and Otávio Terceiro play the mother and father whose contradictory treatment shapes the boy's fractured existence. Like the source material by Chico, the narrative centers on the protagonist's obsession with a large stone, transforming it into a symbol of his internal struggle. The film captures a raw, unsettling portrait of urban alienation and family dysfunction with an avant-garde sensibility. Zambraia's aimless wandering becomes a meditation on displacement and the psychological toll of parental contradiction. The stone serves as both anchor and burden, grounding the boy's chaotic journey through a hostile world.
