Hear-Say(1985)

Hear-Say is a coming-of-age drama about Andrei Eremin, a sixteen-year-old who prides himself on independence from peer pressure. When classmates spread gossip about Rita, a girl he's genuinely close to, Andrei believes the slander and publicly distances himself from her. Overhearing his best friend Valerka participate in mockery of him, Andrei severs that friendship too. Time passes. Rita finds solace and understanding with the more straightforward, generous Valerka, and genuine affection blooms between them. Yet bitterness lingers for all three—Andrei's quick judgment and pride have fractured bonds that once mattered deeply. The film explores how adolescent insecurity and the need to belong can betray our truest connections, and the lasting cost of choosing gossip over loyalty.
